When purchasing air filters for your HVAC system, getting the correct size is crucial. In this guide, I'll walk you through how to verify your air filter dimensions before buying, using my experience with Nordic Pure filters to help you avoid common pitfalls.
Why Correct Sizing Matters
Getting the right size for your air filters is essential for both performance and convenience. When I purchased the Nordic Pure 20x25x1 Pleated MERV 12 Air Filters 12 Pack, I discovered that the actual dimensions differ slightly from what's advertised. This experience highlights the importance of double-checking before you buy.
- Ordering a 12-pack of the wrong size can be wasteful
Measuring Your Current Filter
Before purchasing any filter, including the Nordic Pure 20x25x1 Pleated MERV 12, measure your current filter carefully. The actual dimensions of the filters I reviewed were slightly smaller than advertised.
For the Nordic Pure filters, the actual size measured 19 3/8 by 24 3/4, whereas the packaging stated 20 by 25. This small difference is important to note.
- Measure both length and width before ordering
- Check the thickness if your system requires specific depth
- Compare measurements to your current filter for accuracy
Verifying Manufacturer Specifications
Always refer to the manufacturer's specifications for the most accurate information. In the case of the Nordic Pure 20x25x1 Pleated, the label shows the actual dimensions on the side.
This practice helps ensure you get filters that will fit correctly in your system and perform as expected.
- Check product packaging for exact dimensions
- Verify specifications against your HVAC system's requirements
- Look for any notes about actual vs. advertised size
Who this is for
To ensure you purchase the correct size, measure your current air filter's dimensions before ordering. For the Nordic Pure 20x25x1 Pleated MERV 12, note that the actual size is slightly smaller than advertised, so double-check your measurements against the specifications provided on the product packaging.
