Using the ADFORS Small Insect Screen as a benchmark, this guide walks you through the key considerations to make an informed decision.
Understanding Mesh Size and Bug Protection
The ADFORS Small Insect Screen features a much tighter mesh compared to standard RV window screens. While standard screens have squares approximately 1/8 of an inch each, the ADFORS Small Insect Screen reduces this to about 1/4 of that size.
This tighter mesh offers better protection against smaller gnats and bugs that can pass through larger screens. However, no screen is perfect—some very small insects may still find a way through.
- Tighter mesh size improves bug protection
- Allows air flow while reducing bug entry
- Not a absolute barrier for all insects
Installation Process and Ease of Use
Installing the ADFORS Small Insect Screen is straightforward. Using a rolling tool, you can remove the old screen, cut a new piece to size, and press the rubber strip back into place.
The process can be done separately from the RV itself, making it easier to handle and reducing the risk of damage during replacement.
- Removable and replaceable without vehicle disassembly
- Cutting and pressing rubber strip are simple steps
- Can be performed off-vehicle for easier handling
Comparing Performance and Air Flow
While the ADFORS Small Insect Screen provides superior bug protection, it may slightly restrict air flow compared to standard screens. Air still passes through, but the tighter mesh can feel less breathable.
- Better bug protection with tighter mesh
- Slightly reduced air flow compared to standard screens
